“People usually are the happiest at home.”
– William Shakespeare
Though that’s a great thought from The Bard, that’s not always the case. Lisa and I support Eva’s Initiatives for Homeless Youth
because they provide a safe haven for homeless youth and we believe, as moms to six teenagers, that all young people deserve a home, support, safety, nutritious food and a chance at an incredible future.
Located in Toronto, Eva’s Initiatives is an outstanding organization that provides 24/7 care for young people aged 16-24 experiencing homelessness, enabling them to move from isolation, trauma, and marginalization toward a sense of belonging, acceptance, community, and home.
Every night, 123 young people stay at Eva’s 3 facilities – in addition to shelter, Eva’s offers programs and services such as individual and family counselling, health and wellness services, and education and employment support.
For every dollar donated, the average charity has a social return on investment of $2. For every $1 donated to Eva’s, $9 in social benefit results for homeless youth.
Eva’s gives young people who have nowhere else to go a place to be safe, to be fed and to get the skills and support they need to find a better tomorrow, never to return to homelessness. As parents ourselves, we’re rooting for every young person at Eva’s. And we’re asking you to stand with us as part of Eva’s caring community, because “better futures for youth” takes an entire village to build.
