Strawberry Nergi Crostini
If we had to choose, crostinis would be our favourite food group! Incredibly quick and easy to make, these crusty toasted bread slices are our go-to appetizer when it comes to entertaining.
And this time, Chef Lisa has taken the crostini to the next level with these sweet-yet-tangy Strawberry Nergi Crostinis. The crispy and golden baguette slices are first layered with a creamy orange ricotta mixture, then topped with Nergi berries (our favourite super fruit!), strawberries, fresh basil and then finished with a drizzle of honey. Irresistibly delicious and full of flavour, yet amazingly simple to make, we bet your guests will be asking you for this recipe.
So what is this super cute, super fruit?
Nergi berries (pronounced ENERGY) have been around for a thousand years. Also known as the baby kiwi, they are sweet and slightly tart to the taste. Don’t get fooled by its size, they’re the perfect immune booster with each Nergi fruit containing more than 3.6g of fibre, 5.28 mg of vitamins E, 52.5 mg of Vitamin C, 268 mg of potassium, 29.4 mg of calcium and more.
You can get your Nergi on with this Strawberry Nergi Crostini or take it on-the-go as a healthy snack. Find them in the berry aisle of your favourite grocery retailer until mid-November.
