EASY DRINK RECIPES - Toasty Winter Drinks 4 Ways


What's cooler than ice cold? Canada during the winter! But no matter the wind chill, our four steamy sips will have you feeling warm and tingly inside and out.

1. SPICY DARK CHOCOLATE HOT CHOCOLATE

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1/3 cup chopped dark chocolate
3 tbsp brown sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp chili powder
Pinch cayenne pepper

Whipped cream, for garnish
Cinnamon stick, for garnish

Directions:

1) In a small saucepan, heat milk, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, chili powder and cayenne over medium heat stirring frequently. Heat to steam, not boil.
2) Pour in a mug and garnish with whipped cream and cinnamon stick.

Serves 1

2. SPIKED PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder
¼ tsp vanilla extract
2 oz Baileys Irish Cream
1 oz Peppermint Schnapps

Whipped cream, for garnish
Candy canes, for garnish

Directions:

1) In a small saucepan, heat milk, sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla extract over medium heat until close to a boil.
2) Remove from heat and stir in Baileys and the peppermint schnapps.
3) Serve topped with whipped cream and mini candy canes, crushed or whole.

Serves 1

3. SPIKED S'MORES HOT CHOCOLATE

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp chocolate syrup
2 tbsp sugar
2 oz Kahlua

Marshmallows, for garnish
Chocolate syrup, for garnish
Graham cracker crumbs, for garnish

Directions:

1) In a small saucepan, whisk milk, cocoa powder, chocolate syrup and sugar.
2) Heat to steam over medium heat but do not boil.
3) Remove from heat and stir in Kahlua.
4) Pour into mug and garnish with marshmallows. Toast marshmallows with a torch, drizzle chocolate syrup over top and sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs.

Serves 1

4. GINGERBREAD LATTE

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk
¾ cup black coffee
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup sugar
¾ tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg

Whipped cream, for garnish
Ginger cookie, for garnish

Directions:

1) Combine milk, coffee, vanilla, sugar, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small saucepan over medium heat until heated. Do not boil.
2) Pour into a mug and garnish with whipped cream and a ginger cookie.
